Al-Invest Business Meeting: 100 SMEs from 13 countries

Within the framework of the International Food and Beverages Exhibition, Alimentaria México 2006, various activities will be carried out in parallel with the show with a view to offering business alternatives. One of these is the Alimentaria Al-Invest Business Meeting. This meeting is aimed at European and Latin American businesses in the food industry which are interested in forming business agreements, investment deals and transferring technology.

Over 100 small and/or medium-sized enterprises are expected to attend from 13 countries, as follows:
• 25 European companies from Germany, Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom and Holland.
• 75 Latin American companies from Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua and Uruguay.

The Al-Invest Business Meeting is the mechanism through which to initiate contact with Europe, an event which is free of charge and with limited participation. By registering on the event’s webpage www.euromexico.org/alimentaria, the schedule of business appointments can be created by selecting the parties you wish to meet.

Furthermore, there are opportunities for exporting Mexican products to Europe, in the processed food and fresh food industries. According to Bancomext, the niches relating to export projects –for fresh foods– and which offer business opportunities for Germany, Spain, France, Holland, Italy and United Kingdom, are fruit, organic fruit and vegetables, lemon; and in most of these countries, coffee, guava and grapefruit.

In the case of processed foods, the most notable are bottled tequila and/or mezcal, sauces, food preserves, preserved chilli peppers, Mexican style foods; followed by guacamole (frozen), frozen fruit, food condiments, snacks, etc.
