The Mexican Association of Sommeliers was founded in 1993, with the support and assistance of two renowned figures in the wine industry, Juan Muñoz Ramos, President of the Spanish Association of Sommeliers, and Gabriel Fernández, a keen promoter.
The mission of this association is to develop and cultivate the passion for wine and the world of gastronomy and culture surrounding this both age-old and contemporary drink.
|
Their objectives are:
- To promote the professionalisation of the Sommelier in Mexico, to provide him with suitable training and qualifications through the various syllabuses available through diplomas, courses and seminars.
- To encourage the Mexican people to develop a taste and enjoyment for this nutritious and healthy drink and to promote a moderate consumption of wine in family groups
- To be promoters and ambassadors of Mexican Wine both in our own country and internationally
- To represent Mexico in the various Sommelier competitions and events around the world.
For this reason, using Alimentaria Mexico as a forum, the Mexican Association of Sommeliers has staged, on an annual basis, the National Sommelier Competition.
